A poster design celebrating Braun Design principles for 'systems14' exhibition, the first in Asia curated by Das Programm and produced in association with Braun.
The evolution of Chinese character logograms, in many ways, mirrors the systematic and rigorous form reduction approach in Braun Design.
Taking inspiration from this history, we deconstructed and rearranged various Braun Design elements as typographic parts systematically to produce a pair of Chinese characters ‘東’ and ‘西’, which means east and west respectively while also as a phrase together, (‘東西’), means 'object'.
We intend the poster to be seen as an allusion to the universality of Braun Design principles which transcends cultural boundaries. Both characters are also constructed from precisely 14 Braun interaction design elements, as our subtle nod to this edition's title 'systems14'.
